Cross sectional study to evaluate modified Alvardo score in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis

Background: Appendectomy is one of the most commonly performed emergency operation. The diagnosis requires distinguishing from other causes pain in that region abdomen like acute ureteric colic, right sided salphingoophoritis. Presently ultrasonogram and contrast enhanced CT scan are diagnostic modalities choice. Although these facilities readily available urban areas but rural still suffer lack timely negative appendectomy, enhancing need for a reliable scoring system appendicitis. Here we will evaluate modified Alvardo Methods: This an observational cross-sectional hospital-based study at KPC medical college, Kolkata with 92 consecutive cases suspected appendicitis, who were admitted, investigated treated during 1st February 2022 to 31st January, 2023. Modified score calculated each patient compared histopathological findings operated appendix. Results: above shows 7-9 has high sensitivity 93.10% men female 77.78%. Overall came out be 83.63%. Conclusions: It can concluded used as potent tool male. But females due lower significant number it aid addition imaging studies diagnosis.
